Biblical Ministries Worldwide Prayer Update
Smith Stepping Stones Psalm 37:23-"The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord and He delights in his way." IMPACT THROUGH INTERCESSION.” July 1, 2014 Dear Friends, We left home on May 29, and are just returning home today, July 1. We are a little weary, but God blessed us with safety, some good meetings in churches, a great IFCA National Convention and wonderful fellowship with many friends. Our first stop was in Lambert Community in west Tennessee. Jerry preached at the Sunday Homecoming Service at Lambert Community Church. This is the church Jerry’s dad pastored for 44 years and Jerry grew up in this community, so it is always a joy to see life-long friends and remember how God used Papa and Mama Smith to make a difference in so many lives through their ministry of God’s Word. After driving to Louisiana we stayed 14 days at Camp Pearl in Reeves, LA. Jerry was involved a little in helping to train their summer workers by giving their morning devotions. He preached at Faith Bible Church in Lake Charles and at Henderson Bible Church in Henderson. We have many churches and individuals in this area who support us financially and with prayer and we were encouraged as we spent time with many of them. In the past we have asked you to pray for Kristina, the granddaughter of our dear friends, Don and Angie Barrett, the Directors of Camp Pearl Ministries. Kristina was diagnosed with cancer four years ago and she went to be with Jesus last week. She had just turned 12. Kristina loved Jesus and she and her family had a wonderful testimony to thousands of people through their Facebook page. Pray with us that God will sustain the Barrett family with His grace and peace in the days ahead. From Louisiana we drove to Dallas where we spent a few days with a family who “adopted” us when Jerry was studying at Dallas Theological Seminary. They have been such a blessing to us through the years. We also attended a prayer service at Prairie Creek Baptist Church, where we worshiped during our seminary days. We had a ministry with the youth there and now these “youth” all have grandchildren! Makes us feel a little old! The IFCA National Convention was held in Colorado Springs and we think it was one of the best we have ever attended. The speakers were great, music was wonderful and of course the fellowship with friends from around the world was very encouraging. We attended the Church Extension Conference which met before the Convention began and Jerry taught a seminar during that time. It was great to listen to Dan Nave tell how God led him to move to the southeast and share plans for the formation of the Southeast Church Extension. Our nephew, Daniel Clark, is an IFCA endorsed Navy Chaplain, and we were thrilled to hear him give a report at one of the convention sessions. Amy enjoyed some sightseeing trips to Garden of the Gods and to the top of Pike’s Peak with friends, and Jerry played golf with fifteen friends one afternoon. We will be home through most of July, but we will be busy with Administrator’s Retreat and two weeks of Candidate Orientation. Our Representatives Retreat will be held during the first week of Candidate Orientation. This allows the representatives to meet the new missionary candidates and hear about what is happening on various fields from our area directors. Jerry and Rick Smith will be making a quick trip to Cicero, IL to teach a workshop at Cicero Bible Church in July. Please pray for this church as they seek to grow and make a difference in their community. On June 3rd we celebrated our 55th wedding anniversary. We have been serving in full time ministry for 50 years. How thankful we are for God’s grace in our lives, and we look forward to serving Him as long as He gives us strength. We are blessed.
